Automated Container CorporationA Subsidiary of Crown Cork & Seal Company, Inc.PRESS RELEASE AUTOMATED CONTAINER INTRODUCES NEW 300 DOUBLESAFE ALUMINUM END
TOLEDO, Ohio, U.S.A., Oct. 6, 1999--- Automated Container Company has developed the 300 DOUBLESAFE ® end, a new aluminum safety end that can withstand pressure up to 15psi. "The new 300 DOUBLESAFE is currently being used by a Japanese company that produces and distributes tennis ball containers," explained John Morrison, sales manager for Automated Container. " The challenge was developing an end that fit the size and safety requirements while being able to withstand 15psi during packaging." Before the development of the 300 DOUBLESAFE, this profile was made in only 211 and 401 diameters. Because the consumer may need to put his or her hand in the container, safety was very important," Morrison said. "When care for the end user is such a priority, there is no better end available than the DOUBLESAFE." In the DOUBLESAFE end, folds of metal on both the center panel and the rim protect the user from cuts. The 300 DOUBLESAFE is produced for Dunlop-Sumitomo Company, the leading Japanese packer of tennis balls. Can are made for Dunlop-Sumitomo by both Toyo Seikan and Daiwa Seikan, the two largest canmakers in Japan. Tomiyasu is an affiliate of Maubeni Corporation, a large trading company that buys ends from Automated Container. The 300 DOUBLESAFE end is manufactured by Automated Container's parent company, Crown Cork & Seal Co. Inc., in Winter Garden, Fla. Morrison said that this end is available for sale and use in any country other than Japan, where Marubeni has the exclusive rights. Automated Container Co., a division od Crown Cork & Seal Co. Inc., provides a wide selection of safety protected full open ends for customers in North America and throughout the world. The company's line of safety end products includes SAFERIM ®, RIMSAFE , DOUBLESAFE ®, TARA TARA and TRIPLEFOLD ends.
